How to Rip a CD to MP3 with Windows Media Player 10 Software
Here’s the steps
1. Install the software
If you don’t already have Windows Media Player installed, download the latest version here and follow the installation instructions. If you’re not connected to the Internet, do so now or else Windows Media Player won’t be able to title your songs, and you really want that
2. Setup Rip Music Options
Click the little arrow at the upper right of Windows Media Player. Navigate to Tools > Options, and then click the Rip Music tab.
3. Choose a destination directory (optional)
Windows Media Player defaults to putting ripped songs in the My Music directory.
If you’d rather your music end up somewhere else, click the Change button near the top of the screen to choose a different folder.
5. Choose MP3 Encoding
Select MP3 under Rip Settings: Format
6. Select the bit rate
Drag the slider to the right until the bit rate number reads, “Uses 86MB per CD (192kbps),” or Uses 57MB per CD (128kbps).
Do not go over this because it will make the file to large to transfer.
7. Hit OK to rip
Just click the OK button, and you’re up and running. Your computer will slow down during the ripping process, but you can usually use other applications while Windows Media Player imports the CD (unless, of course, your computer’s really old).
